AMAZING NANO WORLDS!
the Saint Louis Science Center will present Amazing Nano Worlds!, a new exhibition that delves into the science of nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter on the atomic and molecular scale, to small to be visible by the naked human eye. Visitors to the exhibit can explore the world of nanotechnology by becoming part of it, by being immersed in molecules enlarged 100 million times their actual size. Children can also plunge into the “Giant Blood Drop” in search of ‘white blood cells’ hidden among thousands of ‘red blood cells’.

THE SUSTAINABLE BACKYARD TOUR

Do It Yourself Sustainability
Do It Yourselfers (DIYs) can take sustainability to a new level after they see multiple presentations at the next local US Green Building Council meeting on June 12. Inventors and presenters, using the Pecha Kucha format, will expose the audience to as many earth-saving sustainability projects as possible – using a maximum of 20 slides automatedly showing 20 seconds each. Pecha Kucha formats have been employed mostly for social and business networking. At this meeting, preserving natural environments will be the common thread. Topics such as electric cars, landscaping challenges, home weatherization, remodeling kitchens and recycling trash will be covered in a fast-paced and fun show. Presenters have registered for their 400 seconds (approx. 6 minutes) of fame. The June 12 USGBC meeting will be held at the new Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 at 2319 Chouteau in St. Louis zip code 63103. Networking with refreshments starts at 5:30 pm and the slide show starts at 6:15. USGBC members and full-time students are free. Fee is $20 for non-members.
